Madina Museum

The Madina museum is a piece of the "circumscribing Wall" that makes a city. Madina means "City" in Arabic, and the city of Madina is somehow the City of Cities in the Gulf. This important museum is an evocation of this primal wall that encircle the oasis to protect it and consequently creates a City. The wall is a 140 m. parametric brick wall fusing the ages of Arabic pattern Design into a symbol at international scale. Whereas this brick carpet face of the wall is facing the desert (and the sun), the opposite side is facing (here: protecting) a Garden. This side is extremly transparent with a structural glass wall cantilever to protect from the sun using a very famous invention of Middle-East Architecture: the Mukarnas. (Architecture Competition: first prize).
