Green Park Offices

This first attempt use of a ‘cross grid’ concept to achieve high construction density relied on considerations derived from the efficiency of traditional Middle Eastern cities (madinas), with their narrow shaded streets and first floors which overhang and usually do not match the ground-floor, in an attempt to gain extra usable space.
The large size of the site involves a strong urban‭ ‬concept‭; ‬high density can be obtained while enriching‭ ‬the spaces and the experiences‭. ‬The oriental‭ ‬Medina was chosen as a guideline to create‭ ‬courtyards‭, Lliwans‭, ‬covered streets‭, ‬variations‭, ‬that‭ ‬will shade‭, ‬protect‭, ‬define spaces where to live and‭ ‬work‭. The ground floor is strongly structured with parallel‭ ‬strips‭ (‬north-south‭) ‬dedicated to one function‭: ‬garden‭, ‬car access or water channels‭. ‬ ‭The plot is therefore strongly addressed. Suspended gardens‭, ‬courtyards and Liwans compose‭ ‬with larger scale plazas‭.
