TUMO Studios
Firmly anchored into the Park’s master plan,
TUMO studios’
outdoor spaces enrich its potential and will boost its cultural possibilities
The project is built around the monumental void dedicated for the crane movements with material and artworks. A daily dance for the public to live by and contemplate.
On the right, the stairs’ blind wall is a backdrop of the stage on the Creativity Alley, public uses the stands on the slope.
The proportion and the disposition of the spaces allows for the integration and implementation of climate responsive design strategies, such as natural ventilation and natural light. In addition, the green roofs would provide additional thermal insulation thus reducing the amount of incident solar radiation on the top levels in summer and reducing heat loss from the spaces in winter.
The monumental void is materialized by color, every face of the concrete structure that touches the void will be painted in orange. This is a cost-efficient way to ensure the effect seek, as well as a classical industrial recommendation.
Movements of the crane will give a rhythm to the space, it will allow visitors to see the activity going on.
Structure stops in several points where handrails can be opened in order to receive or load objects to the crane.
Because it is being seen from the bridge, the “Fifth Elevation” (the roof), is quite important.
Roofs are mainly planted except for a small surface dedicated to high efficiency evacuated solar tubes to provide for the building’s sustainable hot water demand.
Local, drought resistant plants, will serve to retain rain water, whereby soil will provide an additional thermal mass to regulate the building’s temperature.
