DAWI-1

The DAW’I I wood lamp is a sculptural piece of solid wood built around the LED revision of the iconic Edison E6-ST64 lamp bulb.
The lamp plays with the light in a bold geometry with a subtle grading revealing the wood grain.
The body is machined like an engineered part, using a 7 axis 10 tons robot arm from the automotive industry.
The milling process involves a machinist knowledge that the design embodied to obtain a unique and timeless piece at the intersection of Art, Design and Manufacturing.
The wood lamp is a connected object and its multiple capacities can be set using a smart phone. Among multiple modes, you can choose to have the lamp to be turned on and off by:
-Tilting the lamp’s body
-Scheduled hours (if you are away from the house and want it to look inhabited)
-Automatic switching according to ambient light
-Motion detection (for child safety near stairs for example).
-Activation by sound
The wood lamp is a collaboration between the designer and ar¬chitect Guillaume Credoz (Ghouyoum) and the engineer Nareg Karaoghlanian.
The wood lamp is produced in Lebanon, in 5 wood essences including hundreds year old Lebanese cedar reclaimed from demolished ruins.
